High Top Ankle Support Theory
Knowing where your body is in space is known as Proprioception. This is key for your movement and body control, and consequently increases your sensory input to enhance balance. Using the high top helix increases proprioception and enhances movement, consequently reducing the risk of injury.
If you have a diagnosis of foot drop, the forefoot drop is reduced by using this Helix. This specifically allows for better balance and physical ability. In particular it’s great for moving around on the pitch or court.
High Top Helix Material
The High Top Helix is made with Form-Fit Technology using our reinforced Super Stretch material, therefore will not absorb excess water, bacteria, or odours.
The high top helix is 100% Machine Washable.

What is the difference in styles?
Please see the X-Fit Ankle Helix and Full Ankle Helix for a comparison.
If you’re an athlete without injury, specifically looking to increase ankle sensory input, the High-top Helix is ideal for you. Wearing it results in increased balance and athletic performance. Additionally, the sensation of wearing the High Top Helix is similar to wearing the old “High Top” tennis or basketball shoe.
The High Top Helix is not advised for acute ankle injury support.
If you have an acute injury the X-Fit Ankle Helix provides support in a figure of 8 pattern. Wearing an X-fit Helix is better to support injured tissues associated with acute ankle sprain or strain.
Wearing an X-Fit support after acute injury is less bulky than the Full Ankle Helix. However, the Full Ankle Helix provides uniform compression which is desirable for acute and chronic injury management. Additionally, the full ankle helix provides support to a larger area of the ankle than the X-Fit.
Wearing the Full Ankle Helix is generally the best choice unless you require less bulk support.
Christine Mulford –
I have been using this product for a short period of time, as recommended by my Physio, following nerve damage to my common peroneal nerve and subsequent partial foot drop 5 years ago. The foot drop is no longer a factor in my recovery (as this appears to have now been resolved) and the High Top Helix has given me the support I require, but without the intensity of the Foot Up Brace that I had been using. I still feel as though I have the support, but whilst allowing the mechanics in my foot/ankle to regain proper, independent functioning on their own. I am not ready to mobilise for long periods of time without any kind of support and this is proving to be just the right amount of support I need at this time.
